New Tashkent on the World Architecture Festival Stage

Our Founder / Managing Director, Hakan Agca, and Associate, Matt Schalcher, presented on stage at the World Architecture Festival at the Miami Beach Convention Center as a finalist in the category of “Future Projects – Masterplanning” for the New Tashkent Masterplan.

This super long-term new capital city expansion project in Uzbekistan is planned for a population of 2 million+ inhabitants over the next century, on a 20,000-hectare site.

This cross-disciplinary project was led by Cross Works as Lead Design Consultant over a period of 18 months, overseeing a consortium of more than a dozen consultants.

Cross Works won the project in an international competition, and went on to deliver a Pre-Concept Masterplan and a Concept Masterplan for the full site, then delivered the Detailed Masterplan for the first phase of 6,000 hectares (and a population of 600,000 people).

Cross Works also created the Architectural Guidelines for the first phase of the city, and delivered a Digital Twin for the city, utilising the firm’s in-house technology team.
