Cross Works CEO Visits New Tashkent as Phase 1 Neighbourhoods Take Shape

Cross Works Founder and CEO Hakan Agca was on site in Tashkent today, visiting the construction of several of the first residential neighbourhoods emerging as part of Phase 1 of the New Tashkent masterplan.

Following nearly three years of involvement in the project, the visit marks a significant milestone for the practice, as early-stage visioning and planning work begins to materialise on the ground. Cross Works has played a central role across multiple stages of the development—from Pre-Concept Visioning through to Concept and Detailed Masterplanning, as well as the preparation of Architectural Guidelines shaping the project’s long-term urban framework.

For large-scale developments of this nature, it is not uncommon for projects to remain at the conceptual stage for extended periods, or take many years before construction begins. The visible progress on site therefore represents an important moment for the wider design team, reflecting the pace at which one of the most ambitious projects in Cross Works’ portfolio is now advancing.

Cross Works also extended its thanks to the Directorate of New Tashkent and the broader consultant team, including Buro Happold, Gillespies, Buro Atlas, SKAB, Dome + Partners, and Hartek, among others, for their continued collaboration.

Further project updates and site progress are expected in the coming weeks, with Cross Works also set to discuss its involvement in New Tashkent at the upcoming UK–Uzbekistan Infrastructure Conference in Tashkent.
